| "The
plastic-figurative rendering of Saint Luca's Parables becomes for
Giuliana Geronazzo an essay of those sacrifical possibilities which
being matures in itself, as if it would pursue the path of possible
links to the aspiration to become sacre in the consolatory
construction of pain"(Prof. Miklos N. Varga on magazine "Gala International"
December '80). "The unique plasticity of Giuliana's new ceramics gets rid of spatial dimension, to play totally, to integrate itself in the breaking off of forms and to counterpoint with non-form, that is to say with the matter" (Floriano de Santi). |

RAKU |
|||||
| Raku
descends from Rikyu, Master of Ceremonies of tea, who lived in Japan in XVI
century. The ceremony of tea is tied up to Zen philosophy and to the influence that Buddism exerted on Japanese culture. The quest for armony in every field of everyday life reflects itself in architecture, in graphic arts, in the art of arranging flowers (ikebana) and of food presentationn. Also tea cups, which were previously imported, become more refined and precious, both in design and decoration. Raku ceramics has been handed down to us from the first family of potters who were allowed the feudal permission to mass-reproduce cups. |

| In Japan,
traditional Raku technique is two-coloured: red and black. In the
West, where it spread very rapidly, each artist researches colours
to characterize his products, also because enamels which can be used for
Raku are not traded.
Raku was born when Zen philosophy espoused
ceramics. Fusion of Air-Earth-Fire makes Raku an endless creation. |
